Good Q

Hey Seanban, I know what you mean about the 'absence of standardized changes', but as UKViking mentioned, many organisations have their own customized way of handling various changes. what's the cost?

Hi Ramy, Its an interesting proposition, 2in a box or 3 in a box. Anyway... I find a lot of consult...

Which is why I believe that this is a particular area Change Managers should be extremely strict about. In a client of mine, due to the nature of 'urgent fixes', at times Developers a...

Oh still uses ppl

Hi Diarmid, The software STILL has people inputs. So you need to raise a * Change Request in the system making you the change owner, * write the appropriate scripts for the deployment (Database SQL), * schedule it to a change window, * assign the appropriate pre & post reviewers And then let the mag...

Change and Release Management together!

I like the concept of change and release management being together, as in an ideal situation, the change manager ought to know what needs to be released and the release manager kind of needs to know all the nitty gritty details of how to perform the change. I have found that sometimes the change req...

How interesting

Wow... how interesting! I am a Software Developer myself and I know this is a thread that has been going on for quite some time (2 years now)... but I have spent the last year putting together a Database Change Management tool myself (Release-eZ). Not as comprehensive as all the stuff Fandango was s...

I understand

Hi MG_ukexpat, Yeah I understand your dilemma. I have been putting together a system of my own to handle Database Change Requests and automatically applies them etc... and one of the issues I have is the consideration as to how much flexibility I am allowing people to edit a change. Eg :- when a cha...
