Change Request window exceeded

Post by Ne0 » Wed Nov 22, 2017 6:40 am

Hi All,

My change manager said when change exceeds change windows then I need to raise incident !!. Change request will go into query status as per ITIL. Is this true? , I am finding hard to find this info on internet. I have worked in few companys before and I never heard about this.

Example: If change is scheduled to be performed between 7 PM to 8 PM, actual change was completed at 10 PM successfully.

Regards,
Ne0

Obviously a change should never exceed the agreed change window. The change window should include the time to back out the change as well. Any changes made past this end time, is unauthorized.

You need to think that a conflict check is done against all other associated CI's and agreed in this time frame, if it exceeds this time frame, there is no control over other changes this change may conflict with.

If that change is OOH, I would expect the duty manager to be informed that the change may exceed the window and make the call, if in hours, the Change Manager should be notified to authorize.
