Software product, valid problem closure scenarios

Hi everybody,

I am part of a Problems Management team of a Software Product,
looking for Best Practices documentation with valid options to close problems
because sometimes our team provides the solutions or Hotfix
to the customer and it could take long time for them to test it and approve to close.

Does anyone knows one URL or reference documents where I can get those Best practices to close Problems?

Write your own as there are no real standards for this
