Resistance is indeed futile Terry. I'll look for the V3 masters tokens on the back of my cornflakes soon! All joking aside I have heard that it will be awarded based upon real world demonstrable evidence of ITIL implementations, i.e. not in the classroom. I think this is an excellent idea. However I...

Haha I agree with your observations Terry. Probably a mixture of all the reasons you mentioned but I have observed that people in very reactive environments feel protected by that very fact. It makes life easier as they are not accountable for their ineptitude. I say this as being a very inept but s...

Itil V3 (Jedi) Master Qualification?

Anyone know anything about the release of the V3 Itil Master qualification?

I have heard that to attain it you must be able to influence Board Rooms at a distance using mind control only whilst fasting on a Tibetan mountain in a wet robe for 30 days and nights.

Thanks Asrilrm My point entirely. ICT is not a back room or basement operation that is a utility anymore. It is a real business driver and enabler. Businesses are built on our business now (MY SPACE, GOOGLE, FACEBOOK WIKI ETC ETC). Web apart Government and Police work is done without a standard. So ...

You are right man, bang on. ITIL is a cherry tree. It's all good. If only politics had a framework. Imagine for a moment.. 300 years time. I am the president of the UK. We used to do wars and the petty suchlike, including trying to sort out territorial disputes with disparate political groups. To no...

ITIL Masters (Diploma)

Some consultants are doing it as a test this year by invite. This will set the bar, depending upon the feedback. This is not rumour. I don't know what the outcome will be however.

Thanks for the gracious reply John.

Who know's? Who knows. All 3 may be right. Or something else entirely. Thanks for your input and all the best. I'm gonna leave my input there.

I concur my friend

Hi again and thanks for the reply John. RE "And ? What does being a CITP give you beyond having it on a business card ? Same goes for MCSE, ITIL, Red Hat etc " The answer is nothing. But all of those are well earned and deserved of those that aquire them. But you know this. Otherwise why did you do ...

ITIL is a framework, not a discepline. Nothing beats experience. A good consultant has knowledge and experience. It's not about passing exams, it's about improving service management whatever the landscape.

All the best.

You are right my friend, and no one said life was fair. You underline the point of the difficulty of professionalising IT beautifully by replying about programming on an ITSM forum. Our topic is varied, complex and ever changing. But I offer maybe that fortran, APL, Snobol, Algol, Cobol, Basic, Mach...

Hi and thanks for the reply! You are right that IT is diverse, but not so much as the human body and Medical Doctors can specialise in particular areas. But they are still Doctors. And before you say yes but a body is a body and IT evolves.. it clearly isn't or we would have no disease and suffering...

IT Professional Status

Hey guys, I'm new so I thought I'd throw something in to get over my shyness! I'm interested in your thoughts on how we can try to make IT more of a profession. I understand entirely from a commercial point of view the value of raising the bar every so often, i.e ITIL V3 and MCSE/CCNA re-certificati...
