Hi All I've done the MALC course and exam this week, and thought i'd update this thread with a bit of feedback. Firstly, the books will not help you in the slightest on this course, its all about cementing the knowledge you already have, and applying it across the whole lifecycle. You will look at s...

I got my CSI results today 35/40, so quite pleased with that. The only thing that annoys me is that I think I must have picked a distractor on one question :(

MALC booked for 21st January....eek!

Hi Matthew The 5 stages are a natural progression, e.g it's difficult to build, test and implement a service if it hasn't been designed first. You cant design and implement a service without the business buy in at the strategy stage etc. These stages however could be a seamless process dealt with by...

Hi Matthew Also bear in mind that as a service is being built and tested in the transition stage, it may have to go back to design if testing shows that it will not produce the desired value, or it may go back through design and transition should CSI identify any improvement opportunities at a later...

Hi The ITSCM process should have been designed at the design stage of the service, and tested through the transition stage. The implementation (should it be necessary) would more than likely be at the operations stage by Service Desk, or Ops Management, but it would probably be the BRM who makes the...

Hi there. I think its easier to look at the processes across the whole lifecycle and not just as part of the publication they appear in. A lot of the processes in reality work across varying areas of the lifecycle, as do the SO functions. If you take Availability and Capacity as examples, much as th...

I completed the CSI course and sat the exam today. The course and content didnt seem anywhere near as intensive as some of the others which was quite a relief to be honest. The exam itself didnt seem too bad - a couple of questions that stopped me in my tracks for a while, but on the whole it was OK...

MALC

Has anyone taken the new MALC course and exam yet? I have this scheduled in the new year (assuming that I pass CSI next week).

Just looking for opinions on how the exam compares with the intermediate lifecycle exams.

cheers

Rick

Hi

If you are looking to take the foundation exam, you can do this through a prometric test centre. There are a few in Birmingham. I dont think links are allowed on this forum, but if you google prometric, their website lists all of their locations

Latest Update: I found the SO course really interesting, but since I spend most of my life in the Operations environment, I also found it quite difficult to ignore how things happen in the real world and concentrate on how they happen in the utopia of ITIL. Thankfully when the exam came, I managed t...

Well, I did my SD resit on Friday (along with a couple of other people) and the paper was completely different from the original ( I had been prewarned that there was a good chance that i may get the same exam as there are only a couple of them in circulation at the moment) I had to keep going back ...

Hi

Do you know what the back end database is for UCMDB? SQL, Oracle etc?? Is there any possibility of setting up an ODBC connection to MS Access and running your complex queries through there?

I think you develop your strategy better as you go through the exams. I've tried numerous techniques on all of the mocks I've taken, some with very erratic results. With any luck, by the time I hit the MALC exam, I will have found one that works for me lol

Thanks for that Liz. I must have been having a really bad day when I took SD. 9 marks difference in my results between SD and ST, yet the pass mark is very similar. I hope the resit goes better :)
