I am in network field from many years. I came to know about ITIL. Still i am confused and want to clarify following quaries:
1. What is ITIL and what are the basic requirements to do ITIL
2. How i can implement this ITIL knowledge in my practical field.
3. What will i do if i get ITIL certification.

-First level of Qualification,helps in building standard terminology for IT Services
- Focuses on methodology for IT service support (SS) and Service delivery(sd)

However, just because you have ITIL Certification does not mean you will get a pay raise. It is just that people with ITIL Certification - higher level - usually have other skills and certifications that complement ITIL or IT Service Management that also assist in getting them a higher wage

If you don't have basic managerial skills such as initiative, communication, leadership and most of all common sense then Itil is going to be of little use to you. Not wanting to sound patronising there but any old Tom, Dick or Harry studying or gaining Itil qualifications won't suddenly turn them into an effective IT manager.
However, if you have the above and feel ready to make the transition to a more managerial role, then Itil could be one of many potent tools in your locker and give you some added confidence.
