I'm going to sign a SLA for maintaining Airport equipment. We will receive an online equipment without spare which will make the service provided subject to risks that in case an online asset fail I have no spare to restore the service accordingly a penalty will be applied. We are in a debate that the customer has to provide me with a spare units. Am right? and i need to know what is the trend in all SLA operation contracts about spare units?
And if there is any book, white paper speak about this point appreciate to provide it to me.
Spare units in SLA
First, there is no guarantee any one will reply
Second, there is no SLA or OLA for doing that.
Third, this is a IT related forum - for ITIL.
Your issue is contract law related
If you sign a contract for services with a penalty clause, You should be damn sure that you have the ability to not be hit with the penalty clause

SLA just be apart of ITIL and basing on your contract: service, scope, time, price... I think we can't give you good idea, if we don't know some factors above.
