Merry Change Freeze To One And All
Best wishes to all for 2019.
A change freeze will commence and end as stated in the Change Management policy, in which every organisation will have of course!
Interestingly enough the term “change freeze” isn’t mentioned in ITIL at all and looks to have evolved over the course of time.
When I suggested a change freeze in a CAB that I was hosting it was met with opposition from some senior IT and business management.
I responded “ so you want to carry out a change to a system where essential IT and business resources are not fully available to support the change”
They agreed and changed their mind when they understood the potential negative impact it could have to the business.

Service Transition & IT Project Management
My change Freeze has ended.
The elves are back hard at work
The reindeer are back foraging in the fields.
The Norwegian Blue Parrot is still pine-ing for the fjords.
UKIT, I am so glad senior mgmt. saw the light.. you could have added the following
If we did a major system upgrade during the XMAS period and it failed.. Our business would be down as there may be only 1 tech to cover the phones.

The elves are back at 100% production here as well. For us it's not just the lack of support, it's our biggest money making time of year so any hit to our production systems is completely unacceptable this time of year.
I wish you all a great and successful New Year and may the auditors be kind!
