Hi All,

Can anyone help me with ITIL 4 Practices maps/templates. I know that ITIL V3 was more prescriptive and ITIL 4 circle around value. Can we still use same process map's in ITIL 4 practice onboarding in an account?

Greetings,

You’ll want to get a copy of the ITIL4 Service Request Management practice guide. You should have received 12 month membership to Axelos with your ITIL4 certification, and you can pull down a copy from their web site. What you will find in the practice guide is not so different from what you likely have already (and ITIL v3), but it does offer some simple example workflow diagrams that the v3 book did not have. One area that stands out as different in ITIL4 practice guide, is the addition of ITIL4 "practice success factors", and competency profiles / roles that are introduced in ITIL4.

As ITIL4 is relatively new, most of us are still trying to figure out how to best adopt/adapt it for real life use. If you already have existing processes that are working, they can benefit from leveraging value streams and other aspects of ITIL4, but you shouldn’t have to change them just because ITIL4 is out.

The bottom line, and in my opinion, your ITIL v3 request fulfillment processes will still be valid as would be your process maps. After reading the practice guide, you will benefit by using the information on request models, ideas for optimization of your processes and where possible the ITIL4 practice success factors for improving how you improve measuring your process.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any following on questions.
