Is anyone aware of standards relating to Software Product Management similar to ITIL? Process/guides etc?
Thanks in advance
Software Product Management
Gillro,
The answer is IT Depends.
First off, what do you mean by Software Product management ?
if it is customised applications, then the is the Software Development Lifecycle and the various ways a products is developed, tested and delivered
If it is supporting or installing a developed application, then the ITIL processes apply
Incident for faults
Problem for developing solutions for bug fixes
Change, Release & Configuration for the deployment, testing etc of the solutions to eventually production
the other processes fit in there some where
If you are talking about managing vendor software, then Change, Release & Configuration is the process
Windows, AIX / Linux patches, upgrades
Application patches,upgrades
would go through CCR
